Bruce Coppa, the chief of sfaff for Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie, will be the featured speaker at the Rotary Club of Kapolei's 7:30 a.m., breakfast meeting, Thursday, May 17, 2012 in the faculty lounge at Kapolei High School. He will provide an update on key priorities for the state.
Auction items are needed to help raise money for arts programs at Kapolei and four other public high schools in West Oahu. The silent auction donations will be part of a summer art exhibition hosted by Pancho Abalos and scheduled for June at Ing Direct Cafe in Waikiki. The deadline for silent auction donations is Wednesday, May 9, 2012. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Hawaii Arts Alliance and arts programs at high schools in Kapolei, Waianae, Nanakuli, James Campbell and Waipahu. For more information, call 554-4474.
The club has launched a six-month anti-graffiti project aimed at defending the community from vandals and litter bugs. More than 100 volunteers are expected to participate in the community-service project, which runs through October 2012. For more information, call 387-9284.
The club will host a $10 spaghetti dinner Friday, May 25, 2012 in Ewa Beach. Proceeds from the event will go to Rotary Foundation, which supports humanitarian missions abroad. The event is scheduled from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at 5230B Iroquois Ave., in Ewa Beach. Activities include bingo and fireworks show.
